OUR WORK

At CODE, our work is structured to focus on three areas:

1. Big Tech & Society
Social media algorithms amplify extreme content and spread false information to maximize engagement, often fostering far-right ideologies and extremism. CODE advocates for greater transparency and accountability in these algorithms and promotes digital literacy to help the public critically evaluate online content. Additionally, CODE advocates for policies that regulate digital platforms and technologies to protect societal well-being and environmental sustainability.

2. Big Tech & Politics

Some digital technologies pose risks to democratic processes, distorting public perception, eroding trust in institutions, and manipulating voter behavior. Data collection enables micro-targeting in political campaigns, raising privacy issues, while political advertising on platforms like Facebook and Google lacks transparency. Algorithmic biases perpetuate discrimination, affecting political participation. CODE advocates for comprehensive laws to protect digital rights, enhance tech accountability, and safeguard democratic principles.

3. Big Tech & Economy

Automation, AI, and the gig economy are transforming the future of work. The gig economy offers flexibility but lacks the stability and protections of traditional employment. CODE supports fair labour practices and benefits for gig workers. As automation and AI grow, CODE advocates for taxing automation to fund social safety nets and reskilling programs, ensuring a just transition for all workers.
